Critical intervention by Antonella Oliana on the works of Eugenio Tocchet
It is above all the changeability of light, with its reflections and changes of colour, the fundamental stimulus for Eugenio Tocchet's artistic sensitivity, the recurring but always different motif of his visions, of his desire to grasp nature by going beyond the purely objective data.

Light and the multiple communicative possibilities of colour, the seduction of contrasts and chromatic harmonies are the basis of an original expressive and technical research that does not exclude, but rather contemplates, the essentiality of black and white.
A liquid, mobile and dynamic universe, which lives on reverberations becomes the privileged subject of intense paintings, only apparently abstract, in which the micro takes on the value of the macro and the image is transformed into a perceptive sensation free to flow from one point to another on the surface.

Here then is a reflection of the water, simple drops or light bubbles conquering the space of paintings that the author defines as paintings with the camera; these are not computer elaborations but photos printed with Fine Art technique on canvas or cardboard treated, at times, with a particular protective resin.
The result of this singular and accurate process creates visions of a changing reality within which images are born poised between visible and invisible, tangible and transcendent, finite and infinite. A glass, a plastic bottle, a rusty sheet of metal, a piece of broken glass become, through the selection of evocative details, stages of a story full of meanings, invisible to a superficial glance, alluding to another dimension.
Eugenio Tocchet's is a curious gaze, fascinated by the world and its multifaceted reality, interested in capturing the flow of forms with instantaneous means, a gaze that is enchanted by the seduction of colour and the multiple expressive possibilities of this element.

Photographic interpretation thus becomes a tool for obtaining visual results similar to the effects of informal painting.
Painting that transforms into photography: the choice of pure, bright colour and lines that move from one side of the space to the other, soft and wavy, produces unreal images, apparitions with incorporeal rhythms and movements.
The strength of chromaticism accompanies you into an abstract and limitless dimension.
The result is a compelling journey, inside and outside reality, built on the correspondences of spatial rhythms and the flashes of color; from the chromatic appearance of the immaterial, with the undulation of lines and the floating of forms, to the enlarged details of nature that capture its beauty and perfection. These photo paintings investigate the most minute details of the pistil of a flower, the veins of a leaf, the kernels of an ear of corn.

It is a journey between micro and macro, between physical and incorporeal visions, between chromatic shifts and evocative signs. A path that invites us to linger on things to understand their hidden sides, to read between the folds of reality to see beyond appearances, to observe with other eyes, those of thought and imagination.
Eugenio Tocchet is attracted by the elusive universe of visual sensations and their inner reflection, he perceives the moods of the earth and the lightness of the air, he is enchanted by the transparency and depth of the sky, he senses the poetry of water in its continuous flow and change, moment after moment.
He makes the profound sense of this ever-changing universe his own, capturing the echoes of the absolute and the essential in reality, simultaneously turning his gaze to the particular and the detail without ever detaching himself from the whole.
The result is works in which colour is experienced as a total experience of the imagination and light becomes a changing trail of infinite vibrations, a pattern of the invisible.
